PHOTO INFORMATION: State Rep. Brian BeGole, of Antrim Township, was joined by a pair of Shiawassee County first responders – Shiawassee County Sheriff Doug Chapman (left) and Durand Police Chief Jason Hartz – for a special ceremony at the state Capitol on Thursday, Sept. 7 commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The ceremony honors first responders and members of the military from Michigan, including those who have died in the line of duty. BeGole specifically honored Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Deputy Darrell Henderson, who passed away due to complications from COVID-19 in 2021, and U.S. Army Pfc. Shane Cantu, who was killed by an explosive device in Afghanistan in 2012. Cantu was a graduate of Corunna High School in Shiawassee County, an area BeGole represents as part of the 71st Michigan House District.
