I voted YES on HB 4705 (Rep. Tisdel) – Designates a portion of highway M-150 (Rochester Road) in Oakland County as the “William S. Broomfield Memorial Highway.”

EXPLANATION: U.S Air Corps Veteran and former Michigan House Speaker Pro Tempore, two-year member of Michigan Senate, Congressional Representative serving for 18 years on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, William helped shape US foreign policy during the cold war and was appointed to the U.N. General Assembly by President Johnson in 1967, where he was a delegate to the anti-arms race SALT discussions, NATO and UNESCO.

I voted NO on HB 4977 & 4978 (Reps. Outman & Roth) Authorizes certain summer resort organizations to convert into domestic non-profits and adds those summer resorts formed to the defined list of corporations under the Nonprofit Corporation Act.

EXPLANATION: This legislation is catering to the singular marxist summer resort organization in northern michigan that is lobbying democrats for this change. Summer resort organizations are just that, summer resort organizations, we should not elevate them for special treatment while dismissing other similar organizations.

I voted NO on HB 4924  (Rep. Divendorf) Would create the Uniform Partition of Heirs Property Act. This bill deals with the inheritance of real property through intestate succession, which is when a person dies without a will or other estate planning document.

EXPLANATION: This law creates significant disparities between the state law and Court Rules that have been set by the Michigan Supreme Court which will cost untold amounts of money. As written, this law does not appropriately bridge or treat the disparity.
