The House Committee on Transportation today unanimously approved state Rep. John Reilly’s plan to honor veterans from the Orion community.
Reilly’s House Bill 5629 would designate the five-mile portion of M-24 in Orion Township between Indian Lake Road in the north and Silverbell Road in the south as the “Orion Veterans Memorial Highway.”
“As Americans, we should always be thankful for our freedoms and many blessings — and the men and women who have volunteered to defend them,” said Reilly, of Oakland Township. “My legislation will demonstrate our sincere gratitude for local heroes by dedicating a memorial highway to honor Orion veterans.”
HB 5629 now advances to the entire House of Representatives for consideration.
